in-game screenshots

Some of the previous pictures posted on this blog were quite small, so today I added real screenshots of ASA in real size below. Some of these pics are not new (I often show the same views, because I don't want to spoil the game). One of these screens shows the first page of a diary. Others show the inventory system with a few items. All of them were taken on the main spaceship, called "The Ark".

Op/movie : storyboard

The opening movie of the game is the first half of my short film "2011: A Space Adventure". You might be interested in seeing the rough sketch I made as a storyboard when I just started to produce the film ? Before being in 3D, it all started on a piece of paper... And as you can see, it was just some basic ideas, because the final pics are often much different !

Wallpaper #4

Here's the last one of the series of wallpaper I started last week (I might make a few more later). You had many occasions to see some screenshots of it in previous articles.
It shows the bridge, that is to say the place where you command the spaceship. This area is not the biggest, but it includes also an airlock on the right. The central panel is made to chose a destination, but you'll have to find all by yourself how it works !

Music composers

Karreo is a french & belgian soundtrack composers group. They worked on the music of several of my short films, and the result was always great to hear ! Now, they have the hard task to make the original soundtrack of the game ASA, and I can tell you they're doing a great job.
If you have any project with a strong link between pictures and sound (short film, game, demoreel, teaser, website...), don't hesitate to contact the Karreo team, they're always looking for new collaborations. And if your project is good and non-commercial, there are chances that they work for free !

Visit and contact Karreo at
More info on ASA music soon !

ASA on

ASA makes an appearance in the online magazine Adventure Gamers ! It is no more than the reference in adventure gaming, and it is exciting to be highlighted.
You can see ASA general information here, and the news article here, both links on

The birth of a hero

A hero in a game can be anyone, his past can be anything. Maybe he was born in a noble family and became a knight, maybe he was someone like you and I and was suddenly taken in a big adventure. But the hero is also born from polygons in 3D, and this is what he looked like in ASA. Don't you think he's a bit skinny under is suit ? I can assure you it's not an Alien ! This was a way to simplify the work on 3D modeling, as the hero never shows what's under the suit...

Wallpaper #3

Today, wallpaper#3, which is certainly the one I prefer. It's a picture from my short film 2011: A Space Adventure, but it has a strong link with the game.

The guy with the black/red suit is the hero. That means it's you, as a player. What are you doing here, sleeping in an armchair ? There's an adventure awaiting, come one !

Soon, wallpaper#4...

Wallpaper #2

After wallpaper #1 (the "mosaic teasing" posted yesterday), this is wallpaper #2 : the greenhouse.
The greenhouse is one of the first 3 areas you can visit at the beginning of the game. It's a hot and humid place where plants grow easily, but what's gonna intrigue the hero is a safe which probably hides some secrets...

Wallpaper #1

Just for fun, this is a sort of "teasing wallpaper" made with various pictures from the game, representing a black tower on the main spaceship... Don't want to say too much :)

Views sample

A single picture to show a sample of 300 views from the game. Much more to come in the final release !
Yeah I know, all these views are very small but you don't want to know EVERYTHING from the game before it's released, right ? ;)

From 3D to final pic

A single picture today, to show how ASA is made, with 2 examples. At the top, the 3D modeling, which means the shapes of the different objects composing the pictures. In the middle, the 3D render, that is to say the modeling with textures and lighting. And in the end, the final picture, with some special effects and color corrections in After Effects.

New title

Some people are right : the current title of the game is too close of "2001: A Space Odyssey". A change was expected, so forget about "2011: A Space Adventure". The game becomes simply "A Space Adventure", that is to say "ASA".

Game mechanics

So you wonder how it works in ASA ? Then imagine you're lost all alone aboard an unknown spaceship. You need to explore it and find how to progress all by yourself. Maybe you want to know the reasons of your presence here, or maybe you just want to go back home ? Then you'll have to find the secret behind the Cube, and there's only one way to do so : go forward again and again...

The pictures below show how you must think if you want to go through the game :

I finally registered the game on Steam Greenlight, and everyone can give his opinion there. I'll try to answer from time to time to the comments, but don't ask me to be always reactive !
I hope you like ASA, and please vote for it to help the project.

"The first update is a $100 fee for someone to post to Steam Greenlight."
It means from now on, anyone who wants to submit a game has to pay...
That's what I read this morning when I wanted more info on how to add my game on Steam Greenlight. Well, for a bad surprise, it is a bad surprise. And Greenlight is supposed to help small indie game makers ? What a joke !
